Robyn has served as lead counsel in scores of trials, evidentiary hearings and motions in bankruptcy, and other, courts throughout the United States.  Her areas of expertise include business reorganizations, creditor’s rights and bankruptcy law, and all related transactions and litigation.  Her work includes negotiating, drafting, analyzing and reviewing loan documents; real and personal property leases; purchase agreements; and licensing agreements.  She represents businesses in the manufacturing, marketing, retail, entertainment, finance, golf, hospitality, insurance, real estate, shipping, and healthcare industries.

Robyn represents financial institutions, corporations, creditors’ committees, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, secured and unsecured creditors.  She has successfully defended preference actions filed against various entities including a national insurance company, publication house, manufacturers and a shipping company.  As part of her comprehensive bankruptcy and creditor’s rights practice, Robyn represents Chapter 7 and 11 debtors, and counsels mid-sized corporations and individual debtor clients in reorganizations.

Robyn served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California for the Honorable Robin Riblet; and as a Judicial Law Clerk (floating position) for Judges Ahart, Lax, Lasarow, March and Zurzolo.

Chapter 11 Debtors/Trustees:

  • Namco Capital Group, Inc. (Chapter 11 Trustee Representation)
  • Pacifica Mesa Studios, LLC, dba Albuquerque Studios dba ABQ Studios, largest film and television production complex in New Mexico
  • International Society of Krishna Consciousness, twelve related religious organizations that sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief to protect their real estate assets and address pending mass tort litigation
  • Roger Morris Inn at the Park, 465-room hotel, operating as a Ramada, located directly across the street from the main entrance of Disneyland
  • Ocean Trails Golf Club, a debtor in possession principally engaged in the development of a luxury 18-hole golf course, clubhouse and 75 residential view lot project in Palos Verdes Peninsula, California

Creditor Representation

  • Counsel for Official Committees of Unsecured Creditors in Estate Financial Inc., Fields Aircraft, Inc., V-Tech, Inc., Louise’s Trattoria
  • County of Los Angeles – resolved and litigated tax issues in the context of bankruptcy cases.
  • Represented Sea-Land Services, Inc., Strottman International, Inc., Blair Sign, Inc., Dynasty Fashions, Topson Downs of California, Inc., TST, Inc. and Sign Resource, Inc. in complex preference litigation and claims disputes.
  • Represented McKesson HBOC, Inc., a secured creditor in a Chapter 11 case which was later converted to a Chapter 7 case.

Other Matters

  • Preparing for a trial in which she will represent former employee claimants defending their proofs of claims in which they seek millions of dollars in employee wage claims arising from various contracts and plans with Washington Mutual, Inc.
  • Successfully represented the Chapter 7 Trustee of the Estate of Fitness Holdings, Inc., in an appeal to the 9th Circuit, obtaining an order clarifying 9th Circuit law that bankruptcy courts have the authority to “recharcterize” debt to equity in addressing constructive fraudulent transfer claims brought under 11 U.S.C. § 548(a)(1)(B).  (In the Matter of Fitness Holdings International, Inc., Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of the Estate of Fitness Holdings International, Inc. v. Hancock Park Capital II, L.P., Pacific Western Bank, et. al., United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, No. 11-56677, April 30, 2013) (2013 WL 1800000 (C.A.9 (Cal.)).

  • Achieved significant returns to bankruptcy estates on behalf of trustees through the pursuit of scores of preference and fraudulent transfer actions.
  • Complex bankruptcy related litigation — Class Action counsel to class of investors in complex action against debtor fund manager and its officers and directors; Special Counsel to Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in Fitness Holding, Inc. and then to Chapter 7 Trustee for purpose of pursuing various breach of fiduciary duty, avoidance of fraudulent transfer, subordination and declaratory relief claims and related appeals.
