Philip Bonoli Pens Article Featured in Valley Lawyer Magazine
Phil Bonoli’s article “Freelancers and Independent Contractors: Not without Protection,” is featured in the June 2018 issue of Valley Lawyer Magazine. In the piece, Phil discusses the legal protections, such as sexual harassment and other FEHA laws, that are afforded to writers, graphic artists, consultants and other independent, or “1099,” workers. He also highlights protections, such as workers’ comp insurance, that are only given to W-2 employees. Further, he discusses how The Labor Code makes it unlawful to willfully misclassify individuals as independent contractors.
