Jerry is a lawyer and business advisor with substantial experience representing clients in commercial transactions, financial and restructuring matters, bankruptcy cases, private debt and equity trades and investments, and business litigation.  Jerry has represented companies, lenders, vendors, investors, asset buyers and sellers, fiduciaries, secured and unsecured creditors, indenture trustees, bankruptcy trustees, commercial landlords and business tenants, GOB liquidators, hedge fund managers, private equity sponsors, and government agencies.

Jerry is licensed to practice law in California and New York, and has represented major parties in interest in corporate transactions, restructurings, and litigation related matters in numerous industries and jurisdictions.

Jerry is a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent-rated lawyer, certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law (California Board of Legal Specialization, 1995), has been selected for the 2019 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “The Best Lawyers in America,” and has been named a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters in both California and New York for numerous years.

Jerry’s representations at Brutzkus Gubner and prior firms includes:

  • Business owners in purchase and sales transactions concerning substantial assets, including, for example, purchaser of substantially all of the Mexican assets of chapter 11 debtor, including ships and real property.
  • An aerospace company, including 60 direct and indirect subsidiaries, in their chapter 11 cases.
  • Investors, lenders and borrowers in private equity and syndicated loan facilities.  
  • Equity funds in transactions to buy and sell syndicated distressed debt.
  • Hedge fund manager whose funds’ collective performance comprised Standard & Poor’s hedge fund index.
  • Indenture Trustee and “Creditor Representative” in $4 billion chapter 11 reorganization of paper packaging company.
  • Industry-leading insurance premium finance company in making new law in Nevada protecting the creditor’s senior security interest in millions of dollars of refunded insurance premiums.
